Oh, my mama heart. My daughter wants her ears pierced, again!
The first time we went to get her ears pierced, we went with a preloaded machine. This time around, we are trying something different. Naturally, I wanted to know where the best places to go were, so I did the legwork, so you don’t have to! Let me share with you some mom-approved places to take your children to get pierced. I’ll even throw in some helpful tips to help you prepare for the big day.
First, let’s talk options. Most moms don’t know that there are more options than what we grew up with. As generations evolve, stigmas slowly fade, and that is why my first recommendation would be a professional body modification studio (i.e., tattoo parlors or piercing parlors). If you or your child is not comfortable with that option, don’t worry, I have found some alternatives that can offer the same sterile and safe environment.
Here are a few tips to help you when finding the place that best suits you.
- Call to see what documentation is needed (IDs, birth certificates, etc.).
- Call ahead to confirm whether or not an appointment is needed.
- If you want both ears done at the same time, call ahead to make sure two piercers will be available on the desired day.
- Check reviews, experience, and individual establishment rules.
