Whether you’re looking to get your kiddo prepared for kindergarten or want to increase their social network and build routine, preschool is an important first step in your child’s education. The OKC Metro offers so many options, and it can feel overwhelming on where to even begin. That’s why we’ve done the work of rounding up all of the Metro’s best preschools and Mothers’ Day Out programs so you could find the right fit for your family close to home.
Check out the info below, and make sure to attend one of the open houses or schedule a tour for a more in-depth look at your school of choice.
Early Childhood Enrichment Center

This locally owned preschool offers a fresh take on early childhood learning, with nearly an acre of outdoor space dedicated to nature, play, and hands-on exploration. Instead of relying on screens or worksheets, students spend their days outside growing vegetables, tending flowers, and learning firsthand how plants, seasons, and teamwork all fit together. Older kids who’ve been with the school for years even pitch in on garden projects, giving little ones role models to look up to.
Inside the classroom, the school leans into a STEAM approach that blends science, technology, engineering, art, and math into everyday learning. Kids are encouraged to try new things, problem solve, and keep going when an idea doesn’t work the first time. Teachers weave math into daily activities, from spotting patterns in nature to measuring soil or water as part of garden care. Reading is another big focus, with teachers fostering early literacy habits, imagination, and confidence.
Families love that the program is run by long-term leadership and master teachers who know every child by name. With one location and no franchise fees or corporate overhead, they’re able to offer competitive rates while still keeping class sizes manageable and experiences meaningful. The center cares for children from infancy through age 12 and provides both full and part-time pre-K, plus programming for potty-trained 3-year-olds. The owner, a semi-retired educator and new grandparent, says it best: This is a place where staff love to spend their days, surrounded by children, families, and nature.

The Early Childhood Program at QSUMC

It may look like play, but it is a child’s work to manipulate, change, try again, and discover. We use a thematic model as the basis for learning in our classrooms with the inclusion of Highscope and also Handwriting Without Tears where developmentally appropriate. Our Pre-K and Kindergarten curriculums are aligned to all Oklahoma state standards. Classroom activities are designed to encourage children to learn in a variety of ways. The ECP is open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 am-2:30 p.m. and accepts children age 2months through 5 years of age.
Primrose School of Edmond

The Primrose School of Edmond, which opened in 2008, was the first Primrose school in the state of Oklahoma. Since the founding of Primrose Schools in 1982, the organization has grown into a leading early childhood education franchise.
Primrose Schools were among the first early childhood programs to achieve accreditation from Cognia (formerly SACS-CASI) for their proprietary Balanced Learning® curriculum. This curriculum goes beyond traditional academics by also emphasizing life skills, community awareness, and philanthropy.
Those at Primrose are committed to creating a warm, inclusive environment in every classroom. Their goal is to foster a strong sense of belonging, ensuring that each child and every family feels valued, supported, and special. Their Balanced Learning® curriculum begins in our Infant classrooms, serving children as young as six weeks old, and continues to build a strong educational foundation through Pre-Kindergarten. As a result, their students have historically performed above the national average upon entering elementary school. We invite families to tour our school and experience firsthand what sets Primrose apart.
