Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It’s the meal that gives you the energy to power through your day. Oklahoma City has some GREAT breakfast spots. You can find a good breakfast restaurant in every part of the city. But there are several restaurants that are offering a unique and delicious take on breakfast.
Today I’m bringing you five great breakfast restaurants in Oklahoma City you really MUST try. These restaurants are all local OKC businesses that are doing something special. These aren’t your plain-jane breakfast diners of the past. They are serving up a unique breakfast experience that is freshly made and delicious.
Whether you’re looking for a weekend restaurant, need a bite before work, or are meeting friends after dropping the kids off at school, take a look at these five local restaurants that are serving up an amazing breakfast.

Café Kacao
3325 N Classen Ave, OKC
This Guatemalan restaurant is serving up delicious Latin American cuisine. On weekends, it is common to see a line outside the building. The wait is always worth it for this restaurant. They are serving up delicious dishes like Huevos Rancheros, Pupusas (stuffed bread pockets), fried plantains, Migas con Chorizo (eggs with a spicy sausage), and my children’s favorite, French Toast, on the weekends. They serve up amazing Guatemalan coffee, too for you coffee lovers. Their fruit smoothies are also a great choice! Anything you order here will be great! I love stopping here during the week when crowds aren’t as heavy.
Monday to Friday | 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday | 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Waffle Champion
1212 N Walker, OKC
This is the place for anyone who loves waffles. If it can be served as a waffle, you can find it here. I find it hard not to pass up their Buttermilk Fried Chicken on a Waffle when I’m here. It’s a delicious way to start the day. My kids are more traditional and love getting their waffles with speculoos, Nutella or cinnamon-baked apples. This is one of the few places in town that I can get Maine Root brand sodas made with cane sugar. When you go, try one, and you’ll have a hard time going back to traditional soda. Or order up a cup of Elemental Coffee. Any way you slice it, Waffle Champion is a must try!
Monday – Sunday | 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Jimmy’s Egg
Head to any of Jimmy’s Egg’s Oklahoma City metro locations for a filling breakfast. They have been serving up breakfast and lunch for over 30 years. From the “create your own omelet,” pancake stacks, or their lighter fare, you are sure to find something you’ll love here. One of my favorites is the Garbage Breakfast: hash browns with peppers and onion, sausage crumbles, eggs, and your choice of pancakes or toast. The homemade cinnamon raisin toast is always a hit with us. If you haven’t tried it, you are missing out. One of my friends swears by their Sweet Potato Pancakes. I’m sure you have a favorite, too.
Monday – Sunday | 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Various locations
Good Gravy! Diner
8014 N Western, OKC
A restaurant dedicated to gravy! They are serving up large portions with over 40 varieties of gravy. Who would have thought you could have that many? There’s everything from cream gravy to chocolate gravy for dessert. If you want classic, home-style cooking, then this is the place for you. They are serving up all your classic breakfast dishes including the classic biscuits and gravy.
Monday – Sunday | 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Diner
213 East Main St, Norman
This classic, old school diner on Main Street in Norman has been locally owned and operated for 25 years! Be warned, its location is on the quaint side, and it can get busy. This place has been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives for its comfort food that transports you back in time.
Monday – Friday | 6:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday | 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.
