Whether you’re looking for a weekend restaurant, need a bite before work, or are meeting friends after dropping the kids off at school, take a look at these 5 local restaurants that are serving up an amazing breakfast.
Café Kacao
This Guatemalan restaurant is serving up delicious Latin American cuisine. On weekends, it is common to see a line outside the building. The wait is always worth the wait for this restaurant. They are serving up delicious dishes like Huevos Rancheros, Pupusas (stuffed bread pockets), fried plantains, Migas con Chorizo (eggs with a spicy sausage), and my children’s favorite, French Toast, on the weekends. They serve up amazing Guatemalan coffee too for you coffee lovers. Their fruit smoothies are a great choice too! Anything you order here will be great! I love stopping here during the week when crowds aren’t as heavy.
Open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 5pm and Sunday 9am to 2pm.

Bonjour
This is a new place that I discovered just off Memorial Road and Portland in Chase Plaza. Here they are serving up breakfast all day and lunch. It’s like a French/American bistro meets East Coast Deli. Everything here is made from scratch and I do mean everything. From the banana bread for French toast to curing the bacon and corned beef, it’s all made in-house. So far we’ve loved everything we’ve had here. We’ve had the flourless chocolate bites with toffee, chocolate croissants, Gruyere Biscuits and Gravy, Chocolate Waffle with fresh berries, etc. The Daily Specials board is really hard to pass up on with offerings like a Crab Cake Benedict (shown above). Stop by and see why this is one of the best new breakfast/lunch spots in the city.
Open Wednesday through Friday 8am to 4pm and weekends 9am to 4pm.

Waffle Champion
This is the place for anyone who loves waffles. If it can be served as a waffle, you can find it here. I find it hard not to pass up their Buttermilk Fried Chicken on a Waffle when I’m here. It’s a delicious way to start the day. My kids are more traditional and love getting their waffles with speculoos, Nutella or cinnamon baked apples. This is one of the few places in town that I can get Maine Root brand sodas made with cane sugar. When you go, try one and you’ll have a hard time going back to traditional soda or order up a cup of Elemental Coffee. Any way you slice it, Waffle Champion is a must try!
Open Tuesday thru Sunday 7am to 2pm.

Jimmy’s Egg
Head to any of Jimmy’s Egg’s Oklahoma City metro locations for a filling breakfast. They have been serving up breakfast and lunch for over 30 years. From the “create your own omelet”, pancake stacks, or their lighter fare, you are sure to find something you’ll love here. One of my favorites is the Garbage Breakfast; hash browns with peppers and onion, sausage crumbles, and finished with eggs and your choice of pancakes or toast. The homemade cinnamon raisin toast is always a hit with us. If you haven’t tried it, you are missing out. One of my friends swears by their Sweet Potatoes Pancakes. I’m sure you have a favorite too.
Open every day 6am to 2pm.
Various locations
Good Gravy Diner
A restaurant dedicated to gravy! They are serving up large portions with over 40 varieties of gravy. Who would of thought you could have that many? There’s everything from cream gravy to chocolate gravy for dessert. If you want classic, home style cooking, then this is the place for you. They are serving up all your classic breakfast dishes including the classic biscuits and gravy.
Open Wednesday through Sunday 7am to 2pm.
8014 N Western, OKC
There you have it! These are my some of my favorite places for a fabulous breakfast in Oklahoma City. They are doing something special with breakfast. All of these businesses are local, and we all know how important it is to support local folks whenever you can. Get your day started right by visiting one of breakfast spots and enjoy a great meal.
What is your favorite local restaurant for breakfast?
I will definitely have to try a few of these out! Our favorite breakfast place is Guatemalan as well, Café Antingua!!!
I have heard great things about Cafe Antingua. It’s on my list. What do you like to order when you go?
I’m disappointed that you didn’t put First Watch on here. They’ve got the best chocolate chip pancakes that are the size of hubcaps!!
First Watch has some great food, but it’s part of a national chain. For this article, I am showcasing local restaurants that are only found here or that began here, i.e.Jimmy’s Egg.
I could’ve sworn they were local as I’d never heard of them being anywhere else.
We, at Moda Bella Salon, have the pleasure of being next door to Bonjour! They are so accommodating. We love that they have vegan options, as well as customizing your order to fit your needs. Great place! The salon next door is pretty awesome too! Stop in next time, I would love to meet you!

Grill On The Hill down on SW 25 in Capital Hill and Stray Dog in Bethany are good places to eat……thanks for other places to try……
Another vote for Stary Dog, I must really be missing out :). Grill on the Hill is now on my list to try too.
We prefer Waffle Champion!! Such fresh ingredients AND our 4 yr old son loves, loves the waffle choices!! We feel we’re all eating healthier BUT taste is exceptional!!!!’
Oh man! The Diner in Norman. Ozzies. Also in Norman, at the airport.
the Jimmy’s egg that Britain in 10 is by far the worst restaurant in Oklahoma City. terrible terrible service and they always get your order wrong. sorry guys but don’t waste your time and money.
