Shopping for gifts gets harder each year. I’m running out of unique gift ideas and feeling compelled to gift a gift card or certificate. So we have compiled a list of a few experiences around the OKC Metro that would make wonderful gifts.
Let’s make memories this year instead of collecting more stuff.

Thank you to Prohibition Soap for bringing us this guide.
Prohibition Soap Co. began as a joke in 2020 when its founder, Ray Thomas, was caught googling “saponification” at work. A coworker said, “You should start a soap company.” Five years later, that joke turned into an Oklahoma City business built on premium ingredients, real chemistry, and a prohibition-era obsession with craftsmanship.
Ray is a decorated Marine Corps infantry rifleman turned “half-a-chemist” who applies combat-level problem-solving to soap making. When he creates cocktail-inspired soaps, he doesn’t just guess. He goes to the bar, orders the drink, studies the color, and recreates the experience in scent and feel. Instead of burying quality ingredients down the list, Prohibition Soap leads with them, like Organic Golden Jojoba Oil as the first ingredient, not the eighth. His mom, known as “Ma Barker,” crafts their beard and body products, rounding out a full grooming line built by family, not factories.
Why it’s great for gifting: Prohibition Soap delivers an experience most people didn’t realize they were missing. Customer favorites like Kentucky Bourbon, Old Fashioned, and Barbershop pair perfectly with The Gentleman Beard Oil, Balm, and Butter. Marine-tested, family-approved, and crafted with ingredients most brands hide, these make standout gifts without luxury price tags. Shop local, support a veteran-owned business, and give premium grooming that feels personal.
Find Prohibition Soap’s locally made products online, at Carwin’s Shave Shop in Nichols Hills, or Chuck’s Shave Shop on Britton Road.

Additional Ideas for Experience-Based Gifts

Crafting
There are several pottery classes, but I’ll list a few. They all range in price, depending on how long the class is, if you paint only, or if you’re a beginner. I haven’t personally been to one, but it is definitely on my list! If you don’t want to try your hand at spinning the wheel of pottery, then there are just pottery painting options, as well. Click on the links to check out class details and schedules:
Plant and flower arranging classes sound fun! This may be on my list, but rightfully so at the bottom of my list because I don’t have a green thumb, AT ALL. Ha!
There are so many unique art classes that really let your creativity out! These are also perfect for date nights!
The Oracle (DIY lava lamp!)
Pinot’s Palette – This one is downtown, which is a great location. It is right on the canal, so after class, you can just walk on over to any great restaurant. They do have beverages for sale during class!
Wine & Palette – I couldn’t even tell you how many Wine and Palette classes I have been to in the last decade. Probably close to 20! It is so much fun! I have attended several classes for girls’ nights, date nights, and family bonding time. It just never gets old.
My favorite thing about them is that they don’t just host classes in their studio. They offer classes in 8+ restaurants and bars all over! When you book a class online, it will tell you which location it will be held at. Our personal favorite is Bill Steakhouse & Saloon. We love to come a little beforehand so we can eat. They have half-off appetizers for happy hour, who wouldn’t love that?
The instructors are fantastic; they walk you through each step of the way, and you never feel like you are being rushed. When you are getting settled for class and you look at their finished product, you’re thinking to yourself, “There’s no way I can finish that painting in two hours,” but believe me, yes, you can!
Cooking and Food
Sur la Table – Let me start off by saying that Sur la Table is NOT local to only Oklahoma, but it is worth mentioning. It is wonderful for a date night. We received this gift as a Christmas present.
You cook step by step with the instructor, alongside another couple. Then you get to enjoy the meal together afterwards. For this class, we learned how to make milk tea, two types of dumplings, and a bok choy side dish. At the end of the class, you get an email with all the recipes!
Thai Orchid – I have not done this class yet, but their food is great and the owners are wonderful. It is only $30 a class, and they only offer it to four people each Saturday.
Tipsy Cake OKC – Cooking not your thing? Maybe decorating baked goods is! You get a 6-inch cake and everything you can dream of to go wild with your cake. With the help of an instructor, you’ll be a pro by the end of the class!
Cookie Decorating – I don’t have a specific website because so many talented cookie artists in our OKC Metro are kind enough to teach us a speck of their craft. It is so fun! You get to learn how to make your own icing and how to mix the colors just right. As you can see, I still have a long way to go! Ha!
Experiences
Axe throwing is perfect for team building, family bonding, and any needed stress relief!
Escape rooms are ridiculously fun, especially if you’re with a good group. The rooms are creative and keep you on your toes. There are different themes to choose from, too.
Red Door (Penn Square Mall)
Miscellaneous Ideas
Photoshoots (family, single, couple, pets)
Tickets (comedy show, concert, ballet, sporting event)
Gift certificates to arcades, tourist attractions, such as Myriad Gardens, or a nice dinner certificate
I hope this gave you some ideas to make your holiday shopping a little easier! There are so many great local things that can be gifted. Not only for Christmas, but also for birthdays and just because.
Gifting doesn’t have to be difficult. Make it fun. Do a double date. A parent’s night out. Girls’ night out. Enjoy each other’s company, be safe, and have a wonderful holiday season!
