Family Guide to The Oklahoma State Fair | September 14-24

The Oklahoma State Fair is the perfect way to celebrate the beginnings of fall with the whole family.

It’s that time of year when you can get your fill of deep-fried goodness, check out the 4H exhibits and animals, learn about our Okie agricultural industries in a kid-friendly environment, enjoy live music, and of course ride the ferris wheel!

People from all over our great state and beyond flock to the fair in September, which kicks off September 14, 2023. And of course before the Oklahoma State Fair are some of the county fairs near OKC as well! No matter if this is your first time to the fair or your first year with a toddler (or big kid ready to check out the rides) in tow or a seasoned fair veteran, we want to help guide you through fairgrounds.

Family Fun at the Fair

There really is so much to do once you get in the gates! A few highlights for the family:

Disney on Ice | 09/14-09/19 – Disney On Ice presents Frozen & Encanto ticket prices range from $20 to $75. Tickets are available at the Jim Norick Arena Box Office, online, or by calling 405-948-6800.

Hoofs & Horns Rodeo | 09/22 – 09/23 – Watch as riders attempt to keep their seat on the bucking broncs for the full eight seconds. Bull fighting pits man versus bull, face to face, for 90 seconds or more.

Carousel – enjoy the historic carousel, the Mega-Drop and other classic carnival rides. Rides need an arm band, and they are not recommended for children under 36”.

Sky Eye Park Ferris Wheel – Experience the ride of a lifetime aboard North America’s largest traveling Ferris Wheel. Thirty-six gondolas, holding up to six riders each, will reach a peak height of 155 feet allowing views up to 15 miles. *must be 42″

Kids Corner – kids can learn to cook, dig up dinosaur bones, and find their inner architect, all for free with Fair gate admission.

AGritopolis – kids can learn about Oklahoma’s rich agricultural industry in a fun way! With animals, exhibits and demonstrations like the Barnyard Birthing Center Insect Adventure.

Hands-On Spot – Families can enjoy these STEM activities where you can engage your mind, body, and creativity. Three zones – action, brain and creative – make up The Hands-On Spot.

Petting Farm – Head to the Oklahoma Expo Hall Lawn for the no-barrier petting farm where animals run freely!

Fair Food – we think the Oklahoma State fair is best known for its food. They offer fried foods that most people haven’t heard of! Our personal favorites are the foot-long corn dogs, root beer jugs, and the bacon cheddar curds. We always want to try the chicken on a stick, but so far it has sold out every year. And we hope the funnel cake fries are back this year!

We love this time of year and can’t WAIT to visit the OK State Fair! What is your favorite part?
