NBC Basketball began in 1971 and has grown to be hosted in 18 states and 6 countries. NBC stands for Nothing Beats Commitment, and the philosophy that our daily habits reveal our future. Camps focus on intensive skill development, the value of work ethic, Christian values and the importance of integrity and character. NBC Basketball expects campers to be student athletes who pursue a life of excellence on and off the court. Teaching focuses on self-discipline, the importance of follow-through, servant leadership and making teams and families stronger, and the power of faith to overcome obstacles and live with greater inner strength and peace.
Transforming Athletes
NBC Basketball Camps was founded by Coach Fred Crowell, the first basketball coach of Athletes in Action. Coach Crowell dreamed of an intensive camp program that could transform athletes as players and people. The bedrock of the camps is built on the development of intrinsic values such as confidence, courage, commitment, conviction, and character.
Follow the Gift of Passion
One camper story to highlight the missional stance of NBC Camps is the story of a young man who most coaches didn’t see had a basketball future. He was only 5’2 but he wanted to play Division 1 basketball. No one, not even his high school basketball coaching father, believed he had a chance. The NBC Basketball staff encouraged this young man that passion is a gift from God. They helped this student outline a year-round workout plan to make his dreams a reality. He pushed, he practiced, and he prayed. He dedicated himself to the mission of being a servant leader on the court, someone the team needed in the clutch. He worked on his pure shooting. This young man came to camp each year, getting inspired, walking away with tools to improve his game. After the end of his journey, he was recruited to play Division 1 basketball and professionally in Germany’s highest professional league averaging 52 percent from the three-point line.
At NBC Basketball, staff understand that talent is a mystery and to never foreclose on the gift of passion.
NBC Basketball Camps
NBC Basketball’s Oklahoma Camp will run five days, June 23-27, 2024. The first year will be for boys only, ages 12-18 years old. Athletes will play between six and ten hours per day. The camp will be directed by nationally recognized Oklahoma Coach, Donnie Bostwick who has been mentored by the NBC Basketball model.
The overnight camp will be hosted at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany. Campers will stay in the modern dorms and have a short 1-minute walk to the state-of-the-art gymnasium. The cafeteria is all-you-can-eat fresh food and the campus is a perfect spot for student athletes to work on their game.
