World Storytelling Day
Families can explore the various types of storytelling and the passing of oral traditions from one generation to the next. Listen to cowboy poetry, learn from a Kiowa storyteller, tell your story at the open mic session and create your own travel journal and six-word story.
About Liichokoshkomo’
Liichokoshkomo’ (pronounced Lee-cho-kosh-ko-MO) is a Chickasaw phrase for “Let’s play,” a trailblazing play space dedicated to providing learning through STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) as children explore and try new things. The outdoor experience was thoughtfully designed to engage both the hands and minds of visitors for hours of family entertainment. The space also proudly showcases the many cultural influences that came together to build the American West.
The $15 million project includes an intertribal village that represents seven tribes (Caddo, Chickasaw, Hopi, Kiowa, Navajo, Pawnee and Ancient Puebloan), rail car and train depot, trading post, pioneer wagon, sod house, playground, waterfall and much more. Spontaneity is a members only, drop-in child care facility. Spontaneity is DHS certified and offers many unique benefits such as an allergy-friendly facility (with organic snacks/meals available for purchase), a shoe-free play area, and webcam access. The staff are trained in cloth diapering and baby-wearing. Once you become a member, no reservations are required. Just drop in when you need a babysitter!
Children’s Day Out is designed for children twelve months through four years old (or 5 if not in Kindergarten) on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Children age 12 months-3 years may attend 1, 2, or all 3 days (do not have to be toilet trained). Children ages 3 (by Sept. 1) – 5 years, must be enrolled for 3 days a week (must be toilet trained). They use a Bible based Early Childhood Curriculum called WEE (Weekday Early Education) Learn. The Child Development Center at Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center is a part of a program that trains personnel for careers in the field of child care while providing a loving environment for your child. Military Mommies is a division of Barber DME Medical Supply, a veteran-owned and operated company, that exclusively works with Tricare members to assist them in obtaining their pregnancy and postpartum related medical supplies. We want to support our military families by providing personal assistance from a locally trained expert, free breast pump consultations and providing referrals to local resources and support. Local partners have demo pumps on hand so patients can see the pump, turn it on, listen to it, and see exactly how they work.
We currently offer the following medical supply items:
Breast pumps– We carry Medela, Ameda, Ardo, Unimom, Lansinoh, Motif, and Spectra brands. Most of the breast pumps we stock come with a tote bag. Some of them also include a cooler bag, freezer pack, and storage bottles. Tricare members can have our prescription form signed by their provider once they are at least 27 weeks along in their pregnancy. Tricare covers most breast pumps at 100% for ALL beneficiaries. We also provide milk storage bags monthly or as needed with no additional prescription required.
Pregnancy Support Band– We carry the Embracing Belly Boostier. Tricare members can have our prescription form signed by their provider at any time during their pregnancy if they are experiencing lower back pain. Your local representative trained to take measurements for proper sizing or give measurement guidance.
Postpartum Care System– We carry the Mama Strut and Motif Postpartum Systems. Tricare members can have our prescription form signed by their provider at any time during their pregnancy. However, we do not recommend measuring and placing the order until 32-34 weeks along in your pregnancy to assure proper sizing.
Compression Stockings- We carry Medi brand compression stockings. Tricare members can have our prescription form signed by their provider at any time during their pregnancy. Your local representative is trained to take measurements for proper sizing or give measurement guidance.
Positioning pillow– We carry pregnancy pillows too! Be sure that you mark the box for a “positioning pillow” and the provided diagnosis code on the prescription form.
