Before I became a #boymom, I was a devoted #dogmom. My fur-baby Solomon helped me get through some of the lowest times in my life, but he has also been there to celebrate the highest highs. The least I can do for him is celebrate his birthday in a fun way!
Solomon turned three years old recently. It really is more fun to throw a dog birthday party now that there are young kids to enjoy the festivities. My oldest son and his cousin had such a great time partying with Solomon and his dog cousins this year!
Of course what’s a birthday party without cake?!
PB&B Pupcakes
PUPCAKES
- 1/4 C creamy peanut butter
- 1/4 C vegetable oil
- 1 (ripe if you have it) banana
- 1/3 C honey
- 1 egg
- 1 C flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
FROSTING
- 2ish ounces cream cheese (softened is easier to work with)
- 1/4 C creamy peanut butter
- 2 tsp milk (any type will do)
- classic shaped dog biscuits
DIRECTIONS
- Heat oven to 350 degrees. Put liners in a cupcake baking pan.
- In a big bowl, beat peanut butter, oil, bananas, honey and egg with an electric mixer on low/medium until combined.
- Add in flour, baking soda and baking powder. Mix all to combine.
- Scoop batter into lined cupcake wells about 1/2 – 3/4 full.
- Bake 18-22 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow to cool before frosting.
- While pupcakes are baking/cooling, make frosting. In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese, peanut butter and milk.
- Spread frosting over each cooled pupcake. You can use a knife or a piping bag if you have one. I always use a disposable plastic sandwich baggie with a 1/4 hole cut on one corner to easily pipe frosting.
- Top with a classic shaped dog biscuit.
Although humans can definitely eat these, you will probably want to make regular cupcakes for the people. If you do, get these Scooby snacks (meant for humans) to put on top.
If you use this recipe for your pup’s next birthday, share your photos on social media with the hashtag #OKCMomsBlog. It will be fun to see all the dog birthdays!
